Why two?

First, no one ever buys just one. So at least two makes sense.

Second, it lets us reduce the packaging by putting two chickens worth of parts into one pack.

One order includes the following:

• 2 x Pack of 2 Breast – Boneless but Skin On (4 breasts)
• 1 x Pack of 4 Thighs 
• 1 x Pack of 8 Wings  
• 1 x Pack of 4 Drumsticks
• 2 x Carcass (optional)

• Our chickens average over 6 lbs., or about 50% more than your typical supermarket chicken. They ve also lived at least twice as long and are instrumental in the soil regeneration and improvement process.

  Rustic Rangers – Not your typical supermarket chicken

  We raise a heritage breed bird, the Rustic Ranger, that is much better suited to living outside than the standard White Rock or Cornish Cross breed that you ll buy at the supermarket.

  Since raising this breed, our cull and mortality rates due to genetic issues like cardiovascular and ligament failure have dropped to nearly zero.

  The Rustic Ranger is truly a wonderful bird to raise and you can be sure these chickens have lived an extraordinary life outdoors doing exactly what we need them to do to improve the soil health; forage, scratch, forage, manure, daily move, repeat.

  We no longer raise conventional breeds.

  As they ve been selected for genetics with the fastest growth in the shortest time, we find the animal welfare is very difficult to ensure when you ask that breed to do something that s been bred out of them.

  A fast-growth White Rock is frankly not designed to live past 4-5 weeks without increases in mortality rates. Understandable for conventional poultry production as they re processed at about that age, but it s just not acceptable in our context as our chickens are with us from 10 to 12 weeks and serve the dual purposes of soil improvement and healthy protein production while living the full-fledged chicken life.
